A man went to a Tesla dealership to demand that the car manufacturer return the $5.3K it had “stolen” from him years before.
Mark McCann, a YouTuber from the UK, posted a video to tell his followers that he had no choice but to go into a Tesla dealership to ask for his money back.
It all started in 2017 when McCann made a £4,000 deposit to reserve a new Tesla model, the Roadster. In the advertisement, the manufacturer said the model could go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds, something almost unheard of at the time.
Because of that, McCann rushed to reserve his Founder’s Edition Roadster. Eight years have passed and the car still hasn’t been manufactured. Furthermore, it seems the Roadster project has been forgotten, as Tesla hasn’t addressed the topic in a long time.
One year after the deposit, McCann requested a refund but was ignored. The YouTuber highlighted that he tried emailing the company several times to get his money back, something that would be simple with most other car manufacturers.
In 2021, Tesla asked him to send the full £185,000 (about $249,000) to them, and when he made another cancellation request, again nothing came of it. After a few more attempts, he got fed up.

He showed the result of years of frustration in a video posted on his YouTube channel, where he appears entering a Tesla dealership to demand his money back.
One of the employees was very helpful, checking his information before confirming that the “Roadster was cancelled.” The man then said he “had no idea” about the model’s release and didn’t have answers for the content creator.
Frustrated, McCann left and explained to his followers that it had been a “waste of time” and that he might just “say goodbye to the money.”
Later, Tesla reportedly called him to say that refunds had been “processed,” but he reiterated that no payment had arrived in his account.
